dosgod.mi.org - Home Pagedosgod.mi.org was the first website I ever created for myself. The domain is actually of sub-domain of mi.org, owned and operated by a very good friend, Mike O'Connor. Truly a god of Unix. While working at Ford, we started a monthly meeting of "people with a clue" that we called the "Power Lunch". Initially, I was PPP connected through Oakland University and passed mail via UUCP. Starting in 1985, I used to run dialup modem BBS systems (Telegard RULED! And then there was Renegade!), specifically the site UtilityCity! My BBS was a hub for FIDONet, UTGNet and ITCNet, first in Mesquite, then Plano, TX. When I moved to Detroit in 1995, I continued the BBS until a VERY VERY good friend, Will Loconto, told me to take a look at "this new free OS called Linux". I started the alt.sport.photon newsgroup and had one of the first NNTP to FIDO gateways, specifically so I could read that group. I used to play a lot of Photon, but all of them are closed now. I run a mailing list of ex-Dallas Photon players that grew into a full site dedicated to BeamSports. Take a look and see if you know any of them. The Dallas Photon stores were the corporate headquarters, so the names you see as aliases were the first to use those aliases (regardless of what the other sites may wish to say). This was probably the coolest job you could ever have. Getting paid to play a game. I managed the technicians at the two corporate stores in Dallas and helped with R&D. I also got to play a part in the Eric Johnson "Zap" video shot there. I also manage websites for my Home Owners Association, Montclair @ Oakhurst, and I started a not-for-profit hosting business, Masonic Lodges Hosting of Michigan, to set up web sites for Masonic Lodges. It isn't the cheapest service out there, but then who wants to give their time away for free? All the profits are returned to my lodge, Cedar #60 of Clarkston, MI. I became a Master Mason on 30 November, 2006. I strongly recommend it for any man who truly wants to become a better man. If you live in Michigan, I suggest you take a look at the Michigan Grand Lodge website and Share the Secret. You can find the lodge closest to you and fill out a petition. If you are enough of a friend to get this far, I would be honored to sponsor your membership to your local lodge. Masons truly do incredible charity work. If you have children and you haven't taken them to a Masonic CHIP (CHild Identification Program) event to have a free packet created to help find your child, I strongly suggest you do! I have spent a LOT of time working on Linux . Who knew when I started downloading the 12 x 1.44MB floppy set from ftp://ftp.funet.fi every night in October, 1995 as Linus Torvalds created new kernels on a daily basis that it would become the enterprise monster that it is today. Back in the day I helped with ESDI disk drivers, floppy based tape drivers (The Mountain 2X compression card. WHOOHOO!) and was the first to get Xfree 86 working on ATI graphics cards. It was about this time in 1995 that I created my first website for my family and registered my own domain name, http://kimminau.org. It is currently running on a dedicated, dual Xeon Fedora Core, Apache/Tomcat server running the Zend php cache to improve the performace of my FutureNuke phpNuke driven site. I have my resume online if you would like to take a look. I have been architecting Internet connected infrastructure for a long time. Long enough to remember compiling the first NCSA HTTPD on HPUX while at Ford. Long enough to remember when you had to write your own mime-types for Mosaic. Long enough to remember the only way to write HTML was in vi or pico. I used to spend a lot of time working on SGI's . You're always welcome to send me email , like I really need a reason to waste some more time. If you came to the wrong page, maybe you should check my best friend, Google, and make sure youve got the right guy. If you can't find what you were looking for here, you may want to try The Virtual Library . They should have just about everything covered. Real anarchists should check out the Banned Books On-line page. If youre really bored and you wanted to know whats on TV right now, you could take a look at what is on TV Tonight. Thanks for dropping by. Eric eak@dosgod.mi.org
